Heya,

Let the number be x

5+x/11+x = 15+x/31+x

=>(5+x)(31+x) = (11+x)(15+x)

=>153+5x+31x+x^2=165+11x+15x+x^2

(x^2 is deducted from each side)

=>36x+153=26x+165

=>36x-26x=165-153

=>10x=12

=>x=1.2

Let the number be x

5+x/11+x=15+x/31+x

(5+x)(31+x)=(11+x)(15+x)

155 +x^2=36x=165+x^2+26x

We deducted x^2from both sides

36x-27x=165-155

10x=10

X=10/10

X=1

Numbers are =

5+1=6

11+1=12

15+1=16

31+1=32

Proportion = 6/12=16/32

1=1
