P is on  x axis. Let it be (p,0).

A(3,4)         P (p, 0)      and    B(14, -3) are on one straight line.
Slope of AP  = slope of PB

So  4/(3-p)  = 3/(p-14)
      7 p = 65             =>  p = 65/7

See diagram.

Ratio   AP : PB = AC : BD =  4 : 3    (it is very easy to see).
We could also calculate it using other methods.  This is simple.
