Value of (2x+3y) = 23 if  the seven digit number 54x29y6 ( x>y) is divisible by 72,

Step-by-step explanation:

seven digit number 54x29y6 ( x>y) is divisible by 72

=>  54x29y6  is divisible by 8 & 9

 54x29y6  is divisible by 8  if  9y6  is divisible by 8

936/8  = 117

976/8   = 122

=> y = 3  or  7

54x29y6  is divisible by 9 , if sum of digits is divisible by 9

= 5 + 4 + x + 2 + 9 + y + 6

= 26 + x + y

if y = 3

then

26 + x + 3

= 29 + x

as 36 is divisible by 9

Hence x = 7

if y = 7

then 26 + x + 7

= 33 + x

as 36 is divisible by 9

=> x = 3

as x > y

=> x = 7   & y  = 3

2x + 3y

= 2 *7  + 3 *3

= 14 + 9

= 23
