Let the side of square be 100 unit

so area =( 100×100 )
=10000 unit^2

when side is decreased by 45℅

side =100-45℅×100
=100-45/100×100
=100-45
=55 unit

Now.
Area =(55×55)unit^2
=3025 unit^2

Decrease in area =(10000-3025) unit^2
=6975 unit^2
℅ decrease in area =(6975/10000×100)℅
=69.75℅
