let side of square be x, then area=x²,
Increase by 8cm = x+8 , then new area = (x+8)²,
Hence x²+120 = (x+8)²,
=x²+120= x²+64+16x,
=16x=120-64,
= x = 56/16,
= x = 3.5cm.
