 \bold{ \underline{Let  \: the \:  side  \: o f \:  the \:  Square \:  is \:  ( x - 8 )  \: cm , }}

Area of square will be = side² = ( x - 8 )^2 = x^2 + 64 - 16x cm^2

 \bold{ \underline{When, \:  side \:  is \:  increases \:  by  \: 8  \: cm }}

side = ( x - 8 + 8 ) cm = x cm

Area = x² cm^2

 \mathbf{ \underline{Given  \: that \:  when  \: side  \: is \:  increased \:  by \:  8 cm,  \: area  \: increases  \: by \:  \:  64 cm^2 , }}

Then, comparing areas,

⏩ x^2 = x^2 + 64 - 16x + 64

⏩ 0 = 64 + 64 - 16x

⏩ 16 x = 128

 x = \frac{128}{16}

▶ x = 8

Hence, side of square is ( x - 8 ) = ( 8 - 8 ) cm = 0 cm
