If the side of a square is tripled how many times will its area be as compared to the area of the original sqaure

Let the side of the square be (a) cm

Area = a^2 cm square

New side = 3a cm

New area = (3a)^2

= 9a^2 cm square

Therefore, the area increases nine times.
