The new area will be 4 times the original area of the square.

Given :

The side of the square is doubled

To find :

How much time its area becomes

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Find new area and old area of the square

Let length of the side of the original square = x

∴ Area of the original square = x²

When the side of the square is doubled

Then length of the side of the new square = 2x

∴ Area of the new square = (2x)² = 4x²

Step 2 of 2 :

Find how much time its area becomes

Area of the new square

= (2x)²

= 4x²

= 4 × x²

= 4 × Area of the original square

Hence new area will be 4 times the original area of the square.
