For the simple interest on RS 1080 at 5% p.a.for 146 days is the same as the simple interest on RS 2160 for 73 days, then the rate percent for second is given as follows/

Given,

Part I

Principal amount = P = Rs. 1080

Rate per cent = R = 5%

Time period = T = 146 days

146 days = 146/365 years = 2/5 years

Formula for calculating the simple interest is given by,

S.I. = PTR/100

= [ 1080 × 2/5 × 5/100 ]

= 21.6

∴ Simple interest is Rs. 21.6

Part II

Simple interest = S.I. = Rs. 21.6

Principal amount = P = Rs. 2160

Time period = T = 73 days

73 days = 73/365 years

Formula for calculating the simple interest is given by,

S.I. = PTR/100

21.6 = [ 2160 × 73/365 × R ]

21.6 × 365  = 2160 × 73 × R

7884 = 157680 × R

R = 7884 / 157680

R = 0.05

R = 5%
