Given:

(i) The two points are (2,5) and (5,8).

(ii) Slope is represented by tan θ

To find:

(i) The angle θ

Solution

Given the two points are P1 (2,5) and P2 (5,8).

We know that slope m is equal to

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1),

where x1,y1 are coordinates of first point and,

x2, y2 are coordinates of second point.

So, putting the values, we get,

m = (8-5)/(5-2)

= 3/3

=1

This is equal to tan θ

So, tan θ = 1

⇒ tan θ = tan 45°

⇒ θ = 45°

So, θ = 45°
