a/c to question,

the SP (selling price ) of 16 books is equal to the CP(cost price) of 17 books.

Let cost price of each book is x and profit is y

then, selling price of each book is (x + y)

now, 16 SP = 17CP

⇒16(x + y) = 17x

⇒16x + 16y = 17x

⇒16y = x

⇒y = x/16 ........(1)

percentage gain (profit) = profit/cost price × 100

= y/x × 100

= (x/16)/x × 100 [ from eq (1) ]

= 100/16

= 6.25 %

hence, percentage gained by the seller is 6.25% .

Answer:

Let SP of 1 Bottle be x

SP of 16 bottles = ₹16x

CP of 17 bottles = ₹16x

CP of 1 bottle =16x/17

as

SP is greater than CP=Profit

PROFIT= x-16x/17=x/17

P%=x/17÷16x/17×100

P%=6.25%
