therefore a quarter= 40/4= 10
and hence an hour and a quarter= 40+10=50 km

speed of the motor cycle ( s ) = 40 kmph
time ( t ) = 1 1/4 = 5/4 hrs
let distance travelled = d km
we know that ,
d = s × t
d = 40 × ( 5/4 )
d = 10 × 5
d = 50 km
