if the speed of light in water is 2.25×108m/s and the speed in vaccum is 3×108 n calculate the refractive index of water.​

Given that,

Speed of light in water,

v= 2.25 x10^8 m/s

Speed of light in vacuum,

c = 3 x 10^8 m/s

Using formula of refractive index of water

The refractive index is the ratio of the speed of light in vacuum and medium.

n = c/v

Where, c = speed of light in vacuum

v = speed of light in medium

n = ( 3 x 10^8) / ( 2.25 x 10^8)

n=1.33

Hence, The refractive index of water is 1.33
