Speed of motorcycle = 40 km/h

It means that the motorcycle will travel distance of 40 km in 1 hour

So,

Distance travelled by motorcycle in 1 minute = 40 / 60 km

= 2/3 km

Now,

1 hour and a quarter = 60 + 15 = 75 minutes

Distance travelled in an hour and a quarter

= 2/3 × ( 60 + 15)

= 2 /3 × 75

= 2 × 25

= 50 km
