If the sum and product of two numbers are 24 and 128. Find the numbers. Please answer in detaio its for my question paper

Let 2 numbers=x and y

x+y=24 ---------------------(1)

xy=128

=>y=128/x -------------(2)

Substituting (2) in (1)

x + 128/x = 24

x2+128/x =24

x2 + 128 =24x

x2 -24x +128 =0

x2 -8x -16x+128=0

x (x-8) -16 (x-8) =0

(x-8) (x-16) =0

=> x=8 / 16

Hence 2 numbers are 8 and 16
