                  - ( 185X - $X^{2}$ ) = - 8500

                  - 185X + $X^{2}$ = - 8500

Arranging the above equation,

                    $X^{2}$ - 185X = -8500

                    $X^{2}$ - 185X + 8500 = 0 ----> ( 2 )

Factorize the equation ( 2 ),

                    $X^{2}$ - 85X - 100X + 8500 = 0

                    X ( X - 85 ) - 100 ( X - 85 ) = 0

                    ( X - 85 ) ( X - 100 ) = 0

Hence, we get two values X = 85 and X = 100

Difference between two numbers =  100 - 85

                                                         =  15
