If the sum of age of mother and son is 30 years. And age of mother is 25 more than the age of son. Find their present ages

Let the mother's age and son's age be 'x' and 'y' respectively

According to the statement

x + y = 30 ----(1)

x = 25 + y -----(2)

Substiting value of x in eq(1)

25 + y + y = 30

2y = 30 - 25

2y = 5

y = 5/2 = 2.5

Substiting value of y in eq(2)

x = 25 + y

x = 25 + 2.5

x = 27.5
