If the sum of HCF and LCM of two numbers is 600 and LCM is 14 times the HCF find the HCF and LCM
of the two numbers.

Solution,

Let us assume the other number = a

Given that LCM = 14 * HCF

Also given,

LCM + HCF = 600

now, based on the above, putting value of LCM in terms of HCF:

14 HCF + HCF = 600

or, 15 HCF = 600

or, HCF = 600/15 = 40

Therefore,  

LCM = 560

Since HCF * LCM = product of two numbers

40 * 560 = 280 * a

or, a = 40 * 560 / 280

or, a = 80

Hence, the two numbers are 80 and 280
