let the first no. be x and second be x+1
therefore, 1/5x +1/6(x+1)=4
1/5x + 1/6x + 1/6 = 4
6x+5x/30 = 4 - 1/6
6x+5x = (24-1/6) 30
11x = 23 X 5
11x = 115
x=115/11

Answer:

10

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number be x

Let its consecutive even number be x+2

Now we are given that the sum of one-fifth of a number and one sixth of its next consecutive even number is 4

So,\frac{1}{5}x +\frac{1}{6}(x+2)=4

\frac{1}{5}x +\frac{1}{6}x+\frac{2}{6}=4

\frac{5+6}{30}x=4-\frac{2}{6}

\frac{11}{30}x=\frac{11}{3}

x=10

Hence the number is 10
