If the sum of one-half, one-third and one-fourth of a number exceeds the number itself by 4, what could be the number?

Let the number be x,

x/2+x/3 +x/4=x+4(from the question)

6x+4x+3x/12=x+4

13x=12(x+4)

13x=12x+48

13x-12x=48

x=48
