m= 2l+1 if m is 7 then
7=2 l+ 1
6=2l
l=3
its mean that azimuthal no is 3 ... l is 3 mean that it is f orbital and it will have 7 values of m as
0 +1 +2 +3 -3 -2-1

The value of the Azimuthal Quantum Number will be 3.

Given:

Sum of the Magnetic Quantum Number (m)=7

To Find:

Azimuthal Quantum Number(l) = ?

Solution:

For the azimuthal quantum number (l) the total number of magnetic quantum number(m) is given by

l=(m-1)/2

So after putting the value of m we have,

l=7-1/2

l=6/2

l=3

Therefore the value of Azimuthal Quantum Number(l) is 3.
