Step-by-step explanation:

given: α +β + γ = 6, a = 5, b = -k, c = 8 and d = 1

but α + β + γ = -b/a = -(-k)/5

therefore -(-k)/5 = 6

=> k/5 = 6

=> k = 30

Question:-

If the sum of the root of the equation 5x⁴ - kx³ + 8x + 1 = 0 is 6 Then k is

Solution:-

Eq:- 5x⁴ - kx³ + 8x + 1 = 0

 \rm \: sum \: of \: the \: roots \:  =  \frac{ - coefficient \: of \:  {x}^{3} }{coefficient \: of \:  {x}^{4}}

  \rm \: sum \: of \: roots = \frac{ - ( - k)}{5}

sum of root are given 6

 \rm \: 6 =  \frac{k}{5}

Using cross multiplication we get

=> k = 30
