Given :- if the sum of the zeros of the quadratic polynomial x² + 4kx - 3 is 4 then find the value of k ?

Solution :-

we know that, sum of zeros of quadratic equation in the form of ax² + bx + c = 0 , is given by :-

  • (-b/a) .

comparing x² + 4kx - 3 = 0 with ax² + bx + c = 0, we get,

  • a = 1
  • b = 4k
  • c = (-3)

so,

→ sum of zeros = 4

→ (-b/a) = 4

→ (-4k)/1 = 4

→ (-4k) = 4

→ k = (-1) (Ans.)

Hence, value of k will be (-1) .
