Answer:

Let their ages be 3x and 5x

ATQ,

3x+5x=80

8x=80

x=80/8

x=10

Value of x is10 so 3x=3×10=30

5x=5×10=50

After ten years,

30+10=40

50+10=60

So their ages after ten years are 40 and 60.

Correct Question :

The ratio of ages of Anju and Sarita is 3:5. And the sum of their ages is 80. Then find the ratio of their ages after 10 years.

Let present age of Anju be "3M" years and present age of Sarita be "5N" years.

Sum of Anju and Sarita ages is 80.

According to question,

→ 3M + 5M = 80

→ 8M = 80

→ M = 80/8

→ M = 10 ____ (eq 1)

So,

• Age of Anju = 3M

→ 3(10)

→ 30 years

• Age of Sarita = 5M

→ 5(10)

→ 50 years

We have to find the ratio of ages of Anju and Sarita, afetr 10 years.

After 10 years,

  • Age of Anju = (30 + 10) years = 40 years
  • Age of Sarita = (50 + 10) years = 60 years

According to question,

\dfrac{Age\:of\:Anju}{Age\:of\:Sarita}\:=\:\dfrac{40}{60}

If we take, 2 common then,

\dfrac{Age\:of\:Anju}{Age\:of\:Sarita}\:=\:\dfrac{20}{30}

Again take 2 common from the fraction,

\dfrac{Age\:of\:Anju}{Age\:of\:Sarita}\:=\:\dfrac{10}{15}

Now, take 5 common from the fraction,

\dfrac{Age\:of\:Anju}{Age\:of\:Sarita}\:=\:\dfrac{2}{3}

\Rightarrow\:Age\:of\:Anju\::\:Age\:of\:Sarita\:=\:2\::3

Ratio of ages of Anju and Sarita is 2:3 years.
