Answer:

x + (x+2) + (x+4) = 600

⇒3x + 6 = 600

⇒3x = 600 - 6

⇒3x = 594

⇒x = 594 ÷ 3

⇒x = 198

Therefore , the 3 consecutive numbers are 198 , 200 and 202

Answer :-

Given :

Sum of three consecutive even numbers is 600 .

Required to find :

  • The numbers ?

\rule{400}{4}

Solution :

Given that the three number are consecutive even numbers .

So,

The difference between any two consecutive even numbers is 2 .

Hence ,

Let the three consecutive even numbers be ;

x , x + 2 & x + 3

In the question it is also mentioned that ;

Sum of the three consecutive even numbers is 600 .

So,

According to problem :-

Sum of three consecutive even numbers = 600

Three consecutive even numbers are x , x + 2 & x + 4 .

So,

x + x + 2 + x + 4 = 600

\longrightarrow{\sf{3x + 6 = 600}}

\longrightarrow{\sf{3x = 600 - 6}}

\longrightarrow{\sf{3x = 594 }}

\longrightarrow{\sf{x = \dfrac{594}{3}}}

\implies{\tt{\red{ x = 198}}}

Therefore,

The three consecutive even numbers are ;

➦ x = 198

➥ x + 2 = 198 +2 = 200

➜ x + 4 = 198 + 4 = 202

\rule{400}{4}

Verification :

Here, add the three numbers which we got to the sum of the three numbers .

So,

198 + 200 + 202 = 600

=> 600 = 600

♦ Hence verified .

Additional Information :-

What are consecutive numbers ?

♦ The numbers which follow each other in order from lowest to highest .

♦ Example : 1,2,3,4,5 and so on are called as consecutive numbers .

♦ Similarly ,

♦ The numbers such as 1,3,5,7 and so on are called as consecutive odd numbers .

♦ This is because the difference between two consecutive odd numbers is constant similarly in the pattern of the odd numbers they are side by side numbers .

♦However,

♦ The numbers such as 2,4,6,8,10 and so on are called as consecutive even numbers .

♦ This is because the difference between any two consecutive even numbers is constant similarly in the pattern of the even numbers they are side by side numbers .
