According to the question,

The sum of two numbers is 16.

x + y = 16 -----(1)

The difference of them is 2 .

x - y = 2 -----(2)

Solving 1 & 2,

x + y = 16

x - y = 2

______

2x = 18

_____

➝ 2x = 18

➝ x = 18/2

x = 9

putting in 1 , equation

x + y = 16

➝ 9 + y = 16

➝ y = 16 - 9

y = 7

\sf{\huge{\underline{\green{Verification :-}}}}

x - y = 2

➝ 9 - 7 = 2

2 = 2
