Given That:-

  • Sum of two consecutive numbers is 33

To Find:-

  • The smallest number

Solution:-

Let, the numbers be x and x - 1

Then,

 \sf x + x - 1 = 33 \\ </h3><h3> \sf 2x - 1 = 33 \\ </h3><h3> \sf 2x = 33 + 1 \\ </h3><h3> \sf 2x = 34 \\ </h3><h3> \sf x =  \dfrac{34}{2}   \\ </h3><h3> \sf x = 17

Now,

 \sf x = 17  \\ </h3><h3> \sf x- 1 = 17 - 1 \\ </h3><h3> \sf = 16 \\

Therefore:-

The smallest number is 16.

Answer:

Let the first consecutive no. be x

Then 2nd no. is x +1

A\Q

x + (x+1) = 33

2x = 33-1

2x = 32

x = 32/2

x= 16

Therefore,

1st no. is 16

And 2nd no. is (16 +1) = 17

Now, the smallest number is 16.
