Let the 2 consecutive odd numbers be : x+1 and

x+3

x+1 + x+3 = 290

x+x + 1+3 = 290

2x+4 = 290

2x = 290 - 4

2x = 286

x = 286 ÷ 2

x = 143

x+1 = 143 + 1 = 144

x+3 = 143 + 3 = 146

144+146 = 290

2 consecutive numbers = 144,146
