Answer:

5/6 = 1/2 + x

we transpose x to one side and other two constant.

then it would be like this:

5/6 - 1/2 = x

let's take the LCM of 2 & 6 is 6

5/6 - 3/6 = x

2/6 = x

1/3= x

Given:

Sum of two fractions= 5/6

One of the fractions=1/2

To find:

The other fraction

Solution:

The other fraction is 1/3.

We can find the fraction by following the steps given below-

We know the sum of the fractions can be obtained by subtracting the given fractions.

We will calculate the difference between the sum and one of the given fractions.

Let the other fraction be X.

The sum of two fractions=5/6

One fraction=1/2

On putting the values, we get

X+1/2=5/6

X=5/6-1/2

X=(5×2-1×6)/12

X=(10-6)/12

X=4/12

X=1/3

The other fraction, X=1/3

The total of n number of fractions of any number =1

So, 1/3+1/2=5/5=1.

Therefore, the other fraction is 1/3.
