GIVEN:

  • Sum of two numbers = –7
  • One number = –11/6

TO FIND:

  • What is the other number ?

SOLUTION:

Let one number be 'y'

  • y = 11/6

and

Another number be 'x'

We have given that, sum of two no is -7

  • One number + another number = 7 】
  • x + y = 7

According to question:-

\sf{\hookrightarrow x + y = -7 }

\sf{\hookrightarrow x + \bigg(\dfrac{-11}{6} \bigg) = -7 }

\sf{\hookrightarrow x - \dfrac{11}{6} = -7}

\sf{\hookrightarrow \dfrac{6x -11}{6} = -7 }

\sf{\hookrightarrow 6x -11 = 6 \times -7}

\sf{\hookrightarrow 6x -11 = -42 }

\sf{\hookrightarrow 6x = -42 +11 }

\sf{\hookrightarrow 6x = -31 }

\bf{\hookrightarrow x = \dfrac{-31}{6} }

Hence, the another number is 31/6

Given :-

• Sum of two numbers is -7

• One of them is -116

To Find

• The other number

__________________________

Let the other number be 'x'

Then,

x + (-11/6) = - 7

=> x - 11/6 = - 7

=> (6x - 11) / 6 = - 7

=> 6x - 11 = - 42

=> 6x = - 42 + 11

=> 6x = - 31

=> x = - 31/6

Hence, the other number is - 31/6
