if the sum of two positive integers is 44 and one number is 3times the other number,then find the numbers.

let the number = x
then another number is 3 time the first number...ie.3x
their sum is 44
ie..
x+3x =44
4x=44....
x=44/4
x=11..
3x= 3*11= 33./.
therefore the numbers are 11&33

let two positive integer are :-
X and y
acc. to question :-
x+y=44 ...eq. 1
and,
y=3x
putting in eq. 1
x+3x=44
4x=44
x=11
so,
y=3(11)
y=33

so two numbers are 11 and 33
