Let the height of pole AB where the position of the sun is assumed to be at A.
Let the length of shadow of pole be OB.
Now,∠AOB=30°
AB=8 m
In ΔAOB, using trigonometry
tan 30°=AB/OB
1/√3=8/OB
OB=8√3m
Hence, length of shadow formed is 8√3m

Given:

The sun's angle of elevation is 30° and the height of the pole is 8m

To Find:

Find the length of the shadow

Solution:

Let the height of pole AB where the position of the sun is assumed to be at A.

Let the length of shadow of pole be OB.

Now,∠AOB=30°

AB=8 m

In ΔAOB, using trigonometry

tan 30°=AB/OB

1/√3=8/OB

OB=8√3m

Hence, length of shadow formed is 8√3m
