if the supplement of an angle is 3times its complement find the angle

Let that angle be 'y',

180^o - y = 3(90^o - y)

180^o - y = 270^o - 3y

Open now,

180^o - y - 270^o + 3y = 0

-90^o + 2y = 0

2y - 90^o = 0

2y = 90^o

y = 90^o/2

y = 45^o
