Given.

  • Supplement of an angle is 65°

To Find :

  • It's complement

Solution :

Let the angle be x

(As we know that, A pair of angle whose sum is 180° is called a supplementary angle).

So,

Supplement of x = 180° - x

According to the question,

Supplement of an angle = 65°

So, 180° – x = 65°

180°– 65° = x

x = 115°

Now, to find its complement

(As we know that pair of angles whose sum is 90° is called a complementary angles).

So, here it is more than 90° therefore the complement of the angle cannot be determined.

Additional information.

Five types of angles :-

  • Complementary angles

  • Supplementary angles.

  • Adjacent angles.

  • Vertically opposition angle

  • Linear pair

Complementary angles

Two angles whose sum is 90° are called complementary angles.

Supplementary angles

Two angles whose sum is 180° are called supplementary angles.

Adjacent angles

If two angles have a common vertex, common arm, two other non common arms lie on the opposite side of the common arm are said to be adjacent angles. Adjacent angles are non overlapping.

Vertically opposite angles

Two angles formed by two intersecting lines having no common are but a common vertex are called vertically opposite angles.

Linear pair

Two adjacentadjacent angles form a linear pair if they are non common arms form a straight line.
