Question

If the total cost of flooring of a room is Rs 50 and cost of per square metre is Rs 8.50, then find the area of the floor.

ANSWER :

The cost of flooring of floor = Rs 50 per metre square

The Total cost = Rs 8.50

Let,

The area of the floor be x  metre square

So,

=> 8.50 = x*50

=> \frac{8.50}{50} = x

=> 0.17 = x

So,

Area of the floor = 0.17 m square

OR

Area of the floor = 0.17*10000 = 1700 cm square
