Step-by-step explanation:

TSA OF CYLINDERS = 2×22/7 × R ( R +12) = 2288

44/7×R ×12R =2288

2288×7/44 =12R

364= 12R

R = 30.33333( approx)

Given:-

  • The total surface area of a cylinder of height 12 cm is 2288 cm.

To find:-

  • Radius

Solution:-

As we know that,

  • Total surface area of a cylinder is

2πr (h + r)

According to the question,

➭ 2 × 22/7 × r (12 + r) = 2288

➭ 44/7r × (12+r) = 2288

➭ r (12 + r) = 2288 × 7/44

➭ r (12 + r) = 52 × 7

➭ r² + 12r = 364

➭ r² + 12r - 364 = 0

➭ r² - 19r + 31r - 364 = 0

➭ r (r - 19) + 31 (r - 19)

➭ r = 19, -31

Hence, the value of radius is 19cm.
