Question:-

If the transversal intersects two parallel lines, and the difference of two interior angles on the same side of a transversal is 20° ,find the angles.

______________________________

Given that:-

  • The transversal intersects two parallel lines

  • Difference of two interior angles on the same side of a transversal is 20°.

To find:-

  • The angles.

\huge\mathfrak{Answer:}

Let one angle be x and the other angle be y

Sum of two interior angles on the same side of a transversal = 180°

⇒ It is given that x - y = 20

•°• x = 20 + y ...... (1)

We know that:-

x + y = 180°

•°• x = 180° - y ........ (2)

Using equations (1) and (2)

⇒20° + y = 180° - y

⇒ y + y = 180° - 20°

⇒2y = 160°

⇒ y = 80°

Therefore,

The two angles are 80° and 100°
