If the value of g suddenly becomes twice

It is given by f=μ (normal force)

The only normal force is weight. If g becomes twice, its weight(mg) becomes twice(2mg). As a result the normal force becomes twice. Which results in doubling the friction. Hence you need to put double effort to pull the object.
