If the velocity head of stream of water is equal to 10 cm, find its speed of flow

Velocity Head = 10 cm. = 0.1 m.

Using the Formula,

Velocity Head = 1/2 × v²/g

⇒ v² = Velocity Head × 2g

∴ v² = 0.1 × 2 × 9.8

∴ v² = 196/100

⇒ v = 14/10

∴ v = 1.4 ms⁻¹.


Hence, speed of the flow is 1.4 ms⁻¹.
