Explanation:

Given :-

velocity of light in air (v1) = 3×10^8 m/s

velocity of light in diamond (v2) = 1.2×10^8 m/ s.

To Find :-

Refractive index of diamond = (μ)

Solution:-

Refractive \: \: index = \frac{velocity \: \: of \: \: light \: in \: air \: \: or \: vacuum}{velocity \: of \: light \: \: in \: \: medium} \\ \\\mu = \frac{3 \times {10}^{8} }{1.2 \times {10}^{8} } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \mu = 2.5 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:
