The distance traveled by light in a light year is 9.46\times10^{15} meters.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The  velocity of light=  3.0\times10^8 meter per second .

Length of one year = 365 days

= 365 x 24 hours                  ( ∵ 1 day = 24 hours)

= 365 x 24 x 3600 seconds          ( ∵ 1 hour = 3600 seconds)

i.e. Length of one year= 31536000 seconds =\approx3.15\times10^7  seconds .

Since, Distance =  Speed x Time

∴ The distance traveled by light in a light year =  3.0\times10^8\times3.15\times10^7  meters

=3.0\times3.15\times10^8\times10^7  meters

=9.46\times10^{8+7}  meters

=9.46\times10^{15} meters.

Hence, the distance traveled by light in a light year =9.46\times10^{15} meters.
