For a given reaction,

Rate of reaction = k[NO]²[O2]

Rate of reaction is directly proportional to concentration of the compound or inversely proportional to the volume of the vessel.

C proportional to n/V

If volume of vessel is reduced by 1/3rd of its original value, then concentration of compound is increased by 3 times and consequently the rate of reaction by 27 times.

i.e, Rate= k[3NO]²[3O2] = k×9×3[NO]²[O2]

Rate = 27 times.
