Correct Question:

If the weight of a man on the earth surface is 60 Newton its weight on the Moon surface will be about ?

Solution:

W = mg

Note:

The gravity of moon is approximately 1/6 of the earth.

Therefore,

Weight on moon = 1/6 × Weight on earth.

=> Weight on moon = 1/6 × 60 = 10 N

Therefore, the weight of the man on the moon will be about 10 N.

Weight of the man on the Moon surface = 9.9 Newton or 10 N approximately

QUESTION:-

If the weight of a man on the earth surface is 60 Newton its weight on the Moon surface will be about

GIVEN:-

Weight of a man on the earth surface is 60 Newton .

TO FIND:-

Weight of the man on the Moon surface

SOLUTION:-

  • As we know, Weight on the Moon is 16.5% what is experienced on Earth.

By applying Unitary method

1 Newton weight of a man on Earth = 0.165 N weight of a man on Moon

  = \frac{16.5}{100}  \times 1 \\  = 0.165 \: newton

60 Newton weight of a man on earth

= 1 Newton weight of a man on Earth × 60

 = 0.165 \times 60 \\  = 9.9 \: newton \: or \: 10 \: newton

Hence, Weight of the man on the Moon surface = 9.9 Newton or 10 N approximately
