Weight of metal = y g

Weight of chlorine = (x-y)

(x-y) g of chlorine = (x-y) / 35.5 moles

Chloride means the Cl has taken 2 electrons, hence a total of ((x-y)/17.75) moles

So, Equivalent weight of metal will comes out to be = y / ((x-y)/17.75
