As we know that bangladesh was a part of the Bengal region.When India and bangladesh were separated,at that time bangladesh was the eastern part of bengal and this was the west part.So it got its name as WEST BENGAL....

West Bengal is located on the west side of the Bay of Bengal so, I think it is called as West Bengal
