If the world was created billions of years ago, why are we only in the year 2015?

Because now we are in AD 2015 (ie. after the death of Christ)

before that it was BC (ie. Before Christ Died)

before that no one counted days, week, months and years so its an assumption that earth was created roughly billion years ago
