If there are 20 flowers, how many roses are there if bunches of Flowers have lillies and roses in the ratio 1:3?

let x are the lillies flowers and y are the roses.

x+y = 20;

x:y = 1:3;

y = 3x; putting this value in x+y = 20;

we get

x+3x = 20;

4x = 20;

x = 5 and y = 15
