Given: 40 pairs of legs in a sheep herd

To find:  how many sheeps are there in herd

Solution:

Since there are 40 pairs of legs and each sheep has four legs.

Therefore, the number of sheeps= Total pair of legs/ number of legs in each

The number of sheeps= 40/4= 10

The number of sheep in the herd is 10.
