When the given data is arranged in ascending (or descending) order, then the middle most observation is the median of the data. Mean, median and mode are the representative values of a group of observations. They are also called the measures of central tendency of the data.

The largest observation = 111

Given:

There are n observations and the mid range of data = 75

Smallest observation of the data = 39

To find:

The largest observation

Solution:

Let the largest observation = x

The formula for Midrange of a data is given by

Midrange of data = (Maximum Value + Minimum Value) / 2

From given data, Smallest/ minimum value = 39

Midrange of data = 75

Now substitute above values in the formula

⇒ 75 = ( 39 + x) / 2

⇒ 150 = 39 + x

⇒ x = 150 - 39

⇒ x = 111

Therefore, the largest observation = 111
