there is too difference between mitochondria and plastids. plastids are present in plants cell not in animal cell. there are three types of plastids. in which chloroplast process photosynthesis. mitochondria produce energy required for cell in form of ATP molecules.

Mitochondria and plastids are two different structure and they have specific functions.

Mitochondria are found in both plant and animal whereas plastids are found in plants.

The main role of Mitochondria is to provide energy to the cell for carrying out their various functions.

If there would have been no difference between mitochondria and plastids there would have been no structure which would provide energy and does all the processes which take place in the cell would cease.
